KSF Welcomes Our First Director of Development: Mackay Gunn, Mother and Advocate

We are thrilled to introduce Mackay Gunn as the Kabuki Syndrome Foundation’s first ever Director of Development. Mackay’s fundraising expertise and dedication as a parent make her an invaluable part of our family-driven efforts to advance treatments for Kabuki syndrome. 

Mackay brings more than 15 years of experience in fundraising strategy, event management, donor communications, and nonprofit consulting. She has dedicated her career to helping mission-driven organizations grow their reach by building sustainable fundraising programs, including with other rare disease organizations as part of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Now, she’s channeling that passion and expertise into a cause that hits home: her son Brody was diagnosed with Kabuki syndrome just three weeks after birth.

Reflecting on this connection, Mackay shares: “This diagnosis changed our family’s life. But in some ways it also led to the easiest step I’ve made in my career. Bridging my professional nonprofit career with a mission that couldn’t be more personal is an honor. I look forward to working alongside all of you!”

A Strategic Role to Fuel Treatments

As Director of Development, Mackay will lead KSF’s fundraising and donor engagement strategies to unlock more funds and more momentum for Kabuki syndrome research. In a nonprofit like ours, this role is critical. We are building sustainable methods that fuel our mission and ensure every dollar raised supports the most impactful research for families today and into the future.
